Who is Jean Guignard?

My name is Jean Guignard. I’m originally from Nantes, France, and I’ve been living in Panama for over 12 years. After a career in maritime logistics between Le Havre and Central America, I decided to settle down under the tropical sun.

At first, I didn’t know much about this country… but over time — and sometimes through trial and error — I learned how things work here. Like many expats, I had to deal with bureaucracy, paperwork, cultural differences… and both the good and not-so-good surprises that come with life abroad.

Today, I’m not a lawyer or an advisor. I’ve simply chosen to share a few reflections, personal experiences, and practical tips to help fellow expats avoid common mistakes and better understand life in Panama.
